The Moon Runners is an anonymous group of archivists, political radicals and hackers, famous for claiming the foundation of Dark City. Their exact origins are uncertain, with the first reference of them coming from a manifesto that came into circulation Paradise Computer in 20 aPC. The group's members act individually behind changing pseudonyms, making it difficult to establish individual identities in the collective. However, they are known to sign their work with a ☾ symbol.

According to their own definition, the organisation is guided by a synofuturistic and posthumanist philosophy, and is known for collaborating with sentient computers to carry out its actions.
